Class Spotlight: Low Light Hosted By Jacksonville Sheriff's Office

Low light is one of those classes where departments mainly teach officers how to hold a flashlight while shooting a gun. We watch officers rely on weapon-mounted lights while shooting at night because it's easier than holding a flashlight in their hand. Intending to turn nighttime into daytime, we also see officers keeping the flashlight constantly on and trying to use the same tactics in both lighting environments. With this, we are missing a big piece of the puzzle and leaving too much on the table to keep officers safe. At Wright Shooting, we teach tactics with white light that give officers the tactical advantage. Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office most recently hosted not 1 but 2 of these classes to get instructors prepped for a shift in the agency. We are so blessed to be a part of this. Will you be next to join us?  We will take our Low Light instructor class to multiple locations in Florida, Arizona, and our Federal partners in 2025.

But don't take our word on it. Here is what students have said:

“I’ve been in law enforcement since 2004 and Brandon has re-invented the wheel when it come to low light shooting. Every tactic I have been taught and currently teach new recruits have numerous fallacies that we were shown through Brandon’s class. Our agency employs approximately 2700 sworn officers and we will be immediately

changing our low light tactics. His program will increase officer safety tenfold! This was hands down the best class I’ve ever taken. I look forward to taking more classes with him in the future.”

“I can say —without giving it a second thought— Brandon’s low-light tactics course is probably the first course in a long time whose concepts and lessons have immediately changed the way I approach situations in this line of work. This is a course that I believe all law enforcement officers who take their profession to heart should take. From patrol to SWAT/SRT, rookie to supervisor…these are invaluable tactics and skills that all of us can and would benefit from, but we unfortunately aren’t otherwise exposed to. And if you’re a skeptic, don’t worry…that won’t last past the first couple hours of day one. Brandon and Shawn definitely made believers out of our entire class.”

“I have to say that I have never been more satisfied with a class in my career! I have done a lot of training with Brandon and Shawn but this one has really changed my mindset on using a handheld light! Before this class I would never have used my handheld in a tactical situation! But that has 100 percent changed. Brandon your leadership and professionalism when it comes to training is second to none! Your passion for training and skill set to make it successful is inspiring. I would like to thank you for yet again another eye opening lesson that will definitely impact my approach when the time comes!”
