Bonus Skillz&Drillz: 1-10 Drill on a Rifle

This month, not only are we giving you a bonus Skillz&Drillz, but we're revisiting a drill we posted in July of 2025! Rather than using your pistol to do the 1-10 Drill (check that out HERE), here's how you can do it with your rifle.

This drill is highly beneficial to practice with your rifle for many reasons, like sight alignment, grip, and most importantly, trigger control.

Course of Fire:

  • 1 round: 3 seconds

  • 2 rounds: 3 seconds

  • 3 rounds: 3 seconds

  • 4 rounds: 3 seconds

  • 5 rounds: 3 seconds

  • 6 rounds: 3 seconds

  • 7 rounds: 3 seconds

  • 8 rounds: 3 seconds

  • 9 rounds: 3 seconds

  • 10 rounds: 3 seconds

What to Focus On:

  • Discipline on the trigger: Can you u

se the full 3 seconds to shoot the allotted rounds? When you are shooting 3 rounds in 3 seconds, can you prep and press the trigger while acquiring calling your shot for every round? If you have a 2-stage trigger, touch-press with a single stage. This trigger forces you to start slow and speed up to make the time.

  • Vision on the sight: As you shoot slower, the dot should settle or stop before you break the trigger. The faster you shoot, the more the dot will bounce or start to streak across the zone you're trying to hit.

Practice this drill, and let us know at which point you find your boundaries in the comments below. Have Fun!
